IFAD recognizes biodiversity loss as one of the greatest threats to smallholders and knows that in order to stay within sustainable planetary boundaries, climate change and biodiversity loss must be addressed together. This is why IFAD was present at the COP15 conference in Montreal, where it supported the summit’s promising outcome: a once-in-a-decade agreement to protect wetlands, rainforests, grasslands, and coral reefs by 2030.
