This manual presents principles, tools, and strategies for working with such Lead Firms (LFs) in a value chain framework. It is designed to provide practitioners with guidelines, examples, and lessons learned that they can use in designing and implementing value chain development programs. The contents of this manual were generated from Action for Enterprise’s experience implementing private sector development programs worldwide as well as from a working group (sponsored by the FIELD-Support LWA) that brought together practitioners from development organizations with strong interest and experience working with LFs in a value chain context.
