Farmer field schools: From agricultural extension to adult education, International Initiative for Impact Evaluation, March 2014

FFS projects aim to curb the over-use of pesticides and other harmful practices, to empower disadvantaged farmers such as women, and to build farmers’ skills to become more resilient and adaptive to shocks. The share of projects that have empowerment objectives has risen to over 80 per cent in the last decade. The FFS approach aims to provide skills in crop cultivation and resource management using sustainable agricultural production methods such as integrated pest management (IPM).
