International Rice Research Institute (IRRI)-Odisha Project office, Bhubaneshwar
International Rice Research institute (IRRI) ( is a member of the CGIAR ( working on rice and rice-based cropping systems across many developing countries. IRRI is implementing a project in collaboration with Government of Odisha, addressing the challenges and opportunities faced by rice growing farmers with an aim to “Increasing Productivity of Rice Based Cropping Systems and Farmers Income in Odisha”.

The internship offers:

 Opportunities for upcoming professionals to gain experience in an Agricultural Research for Development (AR4D) setting.
 A chance to lend your skills to a specific research topic in IRRI’s program.
 Opportunity for gaining practical experience to complement and strengthen the intern’s academic qualifications and provide contacts in the international and national professional spheres that s/he is likely to enter in future.

The intern is expected to:

 Support project portfolio implementation by contributing to high quality research outputs, supporting engagement with relevant actors and organizations
 Work on a range of tasks from research methods and tool development, data collection and analysis, report writing and contribution to publications and communication products
 Work in in multidisciplinary and, multi-cultural teams on joint or related activities
 Bring in diversity and additional dynamism in the research team We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic and dynamic people with a Masters in Gender studies/ Agricultural Extension/Business management/Economics/Rural management/ Sociology/ Anthropology/ International development. We need excellent English skills including strong capabilities in writing, prior research experience and computing skills. Odiya language is mandatory, Hindi is an added advantage.

Duration: 4 months starting mid-October 2019.
