21 Days National Refresher Course (NRC 2021) On Reorienting Extension Education and Advisory Services for Sustainable Development of Farming Community

Extension and advisory services are often multi-disciplinary in nature and can grow stronger through a sustained supply of vital elements (like changing concepts, approaches, tools and techniques). Further, the information generated through extension research can be an important input for planning, implementing extension interventions and policies in addition to its contribution to disciplines of science. There is a widespread concern that extension and advisory services should be “applied” in nature and hence, all theories and models should prove to be applicable, with implications on the sector(s) for which it was developed. Further, communication of research findings through quality publications, extension and advisory services is very essential to ensure identification of relevant problems that match with the context and contributes to the uptake of information generated ultimately benefitting the farming community.

In this context, this course is aimed to sensitize the faculty, scientists, field professionals and students involved in Extension education and Advisory services to revisit the strategies and concepts so as to bring about a paradigm shift in the extension delivery
